The Second Circuit on Tuesday reinstated a putative securities class action against Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and several executives after finding that a lower court judge improperly dismissed the suit tied to the company's $25 billion initial public offering.

A group of investors asked the Second Circuit to resuscitate their proposed securities class action against Alibaba, arguing Wednesday the district court should not have disregarded reports the e-commerce giant was secretly threatened by Chinese regulators with huge fines just before its initial public offering.
