An Illinois federal judge Thursday granted Ford Motor Credit Company LLC's request to arbitrate a proposed class action alleging the company violated its obligations on a security release, saying the parties agreed to arbitrate claims about the arbitration agreement itself.

An Illinois federal judge Tuesday said a Ford owner's proposed class action lawsuit against the company's credit arm can't return to state court, finding that the relief sought for the company's alleged failure to provide vehicle titles after owners satisfied security interests exceeds the $5 million federal jurisdiction threshold.
