    Developers of the $3.5 billion Southeast Market pipeline project told the D.C. Circuit on Thursday that environmentalists challenging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's approval of the project haven't shown that blocking construction is necessary and that a delay would harm electricity customers in Florida and the southeast U.S.

    Sierra Club, Others Seek Speedy Appeal Of Pipeline Challenge

    The Sierra Club and other environmental groups pushed the D.C. Circuit on Monday to hasten the pace of their appeal accusing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission of wrongfully ignoring the effects of climate change when approving the $3.5 billion Southeast Market Pipeline, while also asking the court to stop further construction on the project.

    Pipeline Cos. Want In On Florida Pipeline Challenge

    The Spectra Energy Corp., NextEra Energy Inc. and Duke Energy joint venture building the $3.5 billion Southeast Market Pipeline on Tuesday asked to intervene in a suit in the D.C. Circuit accusing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission of wrongfully ignoring the effects of climate change when approving the natural gas pipeline.
