Western Digital Escapes Data Security Patent Suit
SPEX Technologies Inc.'s infringement litigation over its data security patent has splintered over the last week, as Western Digital beat the suit against it, a Toshiba unit settled and another company lost its bid to escape or invalidate the patent.

Toshiba, Western Digital Named In Data Security IP Suits
Spyrus Inc. patent holder SPEX Technologies Inc., is going after the likes of Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. and Western Digital Corp. over alleged patent infringement with flash drives, hard drives and other data security devices with the filing of at least six suits in California federal court this week.
