The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Monday transferred Vermont's lawsuit against Volkswagen over its diesel emissions scandal to the Northern District of California, combining it with more than 1,000 other cases currently residing in the district.

Volkswagen has removed a lawsuit by the Vermont attorney general over the automaker’s diesel emissions scandal to Vermont federal court, seeking to send the case to the multidistrict litigation in California established to oversee the hundreds of lawsuits against the company relating to the scheme.
