An Illinois federal judge Friday told a taxi driver he will need redo his Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage claims in a putative class action alleging his former employer misclassified its drivers as independent contractors.

Drivers at a Chicago-area taxi company on Monday asked an Illinois federal court to certify as a collective action their FLSA suit claiming their employer misclassified them as independent contractors, saying anyone who drove for the company in the past three years is similarly situated.
