Two consumers suing Unilever United States Inc. over claims that its St. Ives face scrub can cause "microtears" to facial tissue saw their proposed class action fall apart on Monday, after a California federal court ruled their liability theories were a "dead end" and "fell flat."

A group of customers asked a California federal court for class certification on Monday in their suit against Unilever United States Inc. over its St. Ives face scrub, a product one of their experts says poses "an unreasonable safety risk" and is "not safe for anyone to use."
