A copyright fight over Marilyn Monroe's "Last Sitting" photographs ended Tuesday with a settlement in principle between the estate of a famous photographer and two of his former assistants, according to a New York federal judge.

A copyright suit involving more than 2,500 photographs of Marilyn Monroe taken two months before her 1962 death will go to trial, a New York federal judge ruled Friday, saying he couldn't resolve copyright claims against the photographer's assistants that turn on factual disputes.
