A Florida federal magistrate judge has recommended a $1.25 million judgment against a tax return preparer and his other businesses for defrauding the IRS because they failed to reply to the government's request for an automatic judgment against them.

The U.S. government has asked a Florida federal court to order that a Florida tax professional and his two companies be removed from the industry and pay $1.2 million for allegedly defrauding the Internal Revenue Service.
