9th Circ. Says IP Address Owner Not Liable For Pirated Movie
The Ninth Circuit ruled Monday that the registered subscriber of an internet protocol address that was used to download copyrighted materials cannot be held liable for infringement, finding that the subscriber must have actively encouraged the infringement to be found in violation of copyright laws.
