An Alabama city should be able to escape a putative class action alleging that its red light cameras violate the due process rights of residents because the residents lack standing and were not subject to the due process rights granted in criminal cases, the city has argued in Alabama federal court.

An Alabama city and the company that installed its traffic cameras have conspired to illegally profit from constitutional and civil rights violations, a proposed class of people photographed allegedly running red lights told a federal court Wednesday.
