A California federal judge refused to grant $3.5 million in attorneys' fees to Almawave SpA in a contentious trade secrets dispute the company has called a "nightmare," saying Tuesday he had explicitly said in an earlier order each party would bear its own fees and costs.

A California federal judge said he was finally fed up with an attorney's antics in a contentious trade secrets dispute, throwing out her client's case after months of "unprofessionalism," including refusal to comply with orders and, at one point, throwing or spilling iced coffee on her opponent, according to an order Thursday.
