A California federal judge appeared puzzled Thursday by a CVS Health Corp. subsidiary's $1.3 million Fair Credit Reporting Act deal, calling it an "odd case" and questioning why the settlement more than doubled after he booted an earlier proposal due to "peripheral" concerns about an excessive incentive payment.

A California federal judge on Tuesday tentatively signed off on a $1.3 million deal ending a class suit alleging Omnicare Inc. violated the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and California credit reporting law.
