A West Virginia federal judge on Thursday remanded to state court Murray Energy Corp.'s defamation suit against HBO comedian John Oliver over his segment blasting company CEO Bob Murray, deciding that because enough of the companies involved were based in the same state, diversity jurisdiction could not be established.

Murray Energy Corp. told a West Virginia federal court Monday to reject the ACLU of West Virginia Foundation's request to file an amicus brief defending HBO comedian John Oliver against the company's defamation suit, arguing its "vulgar language" showed it was no friend of the court.
