Morton Salt Inc. can't escape claims that it deliberately squeezed a deer attractant producer out of their contract to make and sell its trademarked Mighty Deer Lick line, an Illinois federal judge ruled Tuesday.

Morton Salt Inc. demanded Tuesday that an Illinois federal judge dismiss a 16-count complaint against the company filed by ex-partner Mighty Deer Lick Inc., saying the suit alleges a breach of contract based on "non-existent promises."

Salt giant Morton and its German parent company, K+S Salt LLC, were hit with a 15-count suit in Illinois federal court on Friday that claimed Morton violated trade secret, trademark and contract law after ending a decadeslong business relationship with a smaller salt company.
