An Illinois federal judge on Sunday enjoined a former partner in GemShares LLC from using the diamond investment company's patented method for securitizing diamonds and other gems to found his own company, saying GemShares showed that the new business hindered its ability to recruit investors.

Diamond Co. Partner Can Alter Counterclaims In Patent Row
A diamond investment company partner accused of infringing one of the company's patents when he secretly formed a competing business received permission Friday to amend his defenses and invalidity claims after an Illinois federal judge said any resulting prejudice to the company is "curable."
