1st Circ. Tosses Duped Renter's Suit Over Phony Resort
A Cambridge, Massachusetts, man scammed out of more than $46,000 for renting out a Belize estate that does not exist found no paradise in the First Circuit, which late Thursday upheld a Bay State federal judge's ruling saying the rental-by-owner website HomeAway.com Inc was not liable for the scam.

A Cambridge man who tried to find a property in paradise only to stumble upon a scam asked the First Circuit on Monday to consider whether fault could lie with the popular vacation rental website where he found, but did not pay, the fraudster.
