MetLife Escapes Class Action By Overcharged Nonsmokers
A pair of pilots who paid nearly 20% extra on life insurance premiums because they were wrongly categorized as smokers can't sue MetLife because their proposed class action is blocked by federal securities law, a New York federal court ruled Tuesday.

MetLife Seeks To Toss Claims It Overcharged Nonsmokers
The Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. asked a New York federal judge Thursday to dismiss a proposed class action alleging the company purposefully charged nonsmoking policyholders smoker rates for life insurance premiums, saying the onus was on the plaintiffs to change their smoking status.
