Cellspin Denies Shaking Down Nike, Others With IP Suits
Cellspin Soft Inc. urged a California federal judge Tuesday to reject bids for attorneys' fees by GoPro, Nike, Fitbit and other companies that beat Cellspin's lawsuits alleging their fitness trackers and GPS devices infringe its data-uploading patents, arguing it litigated the cases reasonably and saying "there's no evidence this was a shakedown."

GoPro, Nike, Fitbit and several other companies that beat lawsuits filed by Cellspin Soft Inc. alleging their fitness-tracking and GPS devices infringed its data uploading patent asked a federal court Tuesday to award them attorneys' fees for having to defend a "meritless" case.

Nike, Fitbit, Others Escape Suit Over Data Uploading Patent
Nike Inc., Fitbit Inc. and a handful of other companies escaped a bundle of lawsuits alleging they'd infringed a data uploading patent when a California federal judge ruled the technology described in the patents, which involve uploading with a Bluetooth connection, wasn't patent-eligible under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice ruling.
