The Federal Circuit on Friday reversed a lower court's decision that claims in a data transmission patent belonging to Dutch telecommunications company Koninklijke KPN are invalid, saying the patent does not cover an abstract idea.

Fed. Circ. Judge Asks How Telecom's Data Patent Is Inventive
A Federal Circuit judge on Friday challenged a Dutch phone company over its invention that checks for errors when data is transmitted, asking what the inventive technology is that is patentable and saying the claim construction could have been written more clearly.
