A California man and the New York attorney he had sued over making false statements in an email about the man's purported "securities fraud" told a California federal judge that they have struck a settlement deal, acting just days before the case was set to go to trial Monday.

A California federal judge has knocked down all the defenses filed by a New York attorney in a libel case, who now must stand trial on allegations he maliciously sent an email with false statements about another attorney's purported "securities fraud."
