Attorneys for Oclaro and investors who sued over the optical components maker's $1.8 billion merger with Lumentum persuaded a California federal judge on Thursday to approve their $15.25 million settlement, winning him over despite him opening the hearing by calling an updated motion for approval the "same sandwich, different bread."

A California federal judge refused Thursday to preliminarily approve Oclaro's $15.25 million deal to end a proposed securities class action challenging the optical-components maker's $1.8 billion merger with Lumentum, telling Oclaro's counsel the deal represents less than 10% of potential damages and "I don't bargain with you."
