A Georgia man and his company ran a fraudulent foreign currency investment scheme and must pay close to $2.8 million in penalties and restitution, a Georgia federal court ruled.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Wednesday asked a Georgia federal judge for default judgment against a 21-year-old who allegedly defrauded investors through a foreign currency investment scheme, less than a week after he was arraigned on a criminal fraud charge in the same court.
