A California federal judge has thrown out a proposed class action accusing Facebook of collecting location data against users' wishes after the plaintiff missed a deadline to file a new complaint in response to the judge's dismissal of the suit.

Facebook has urged a California federal court to toss an amended proposed class action claiming the company tracks and stores users' location data without their consent, arguing that the complaint is meritless as it failed to specifically allege the social media giant "actually inferred plaintiffs' locations with any precision."
