Stein Riso Mantel McDonough LLP has urged a New York federal court to toss weapons maker Applied Energetics Inc.'s $6 million suit alleging the law firm committed malpractice in negotiating its retainer agreement and in its advice to the company's former CEO.

Laser weapons maker Applied Energetics Inc. has filed a $6 million suit against the New York firm Stein Riso Mantel McDonough LLP, alleging that it helped the company's ex-CEO issue himself 25 million shares of company stock without an independent evaluation.
