A general contractor will try to recover more than $1.8 million from the insurance broker of an Oregon-based surveyor for allegedly botched work on a nearly $200 million Washington State Department of Transportation project, a federal court has ruled.

General contractor Flatiron West told a Washington federal court on Tuesday that it is owed $1.8 million in damages from a subcontractor that allegedly botched surveying work on a nearly $200 million Washington State Department of Transportation project, telling the court the error resulted in significant delays and re-designs.
