Vera Bradley did not go back on its word to purchase a now-defunct licensing company and then attempt to hijack the company's NFL merchandise license, an Ohio federal judge ruled, adding that the bankrupt firm actually owes the fashion designer nearly $50,000.

Handbag company Vera Bradley reneged on an agreement to purchase its ailing sportswear partner Vesi Inc. in favor of stealing Vesi's lucrative planned deal with the NFL, according to a $10 million lawsuit filed in Ohio federal court Friday.
