A Georgia federal judge has sided with an air conditioner parts manufacturer against a self-taught electrician's claims that the company's products caused him serious burns, ruling that the electrician's insubstantial expert testimony entitled the manufacturer to summary judgment.

The maker of parts for an air conditioning unit that burned a Georgia repairman sought an early win Monday in his design defect suit, telling a Georgia federal judge that the unit was cobbled together with mismatched parts and illegally filled with flammable refrigerant.
