Insurance Co. Beats Calif. Nightclub's Virus Coverage Suit
A California federal judge on Friday tossed La Luz Ultralounge's proposed class suit against Topa Insurance Co. over coverage for pandemic-driven business closures, saying the California restaurant and nightclub's losses weren't caused by "direct physical loss of or damage to" the property.

A Los Angeles nightclub is asking a California federal court not to throw out its proposed class action alleging its insurer wrongly denied it coverage for losses stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the virus caused a physical loss by curtailing its business.

6 Insurers Hit With Class Suits Over COVID-19 Coverage
A group of attorneys from DiCello Levitt Gutzler LLC, the Lanier Law Firm PC, Burns Bowen Bair LLP and Daniels & Tredennick launched class action suits against six insurance companies in federal courts on Friday over their denials of coverage for businesses shut down because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
