A Texas man who allegedly defrauded retired first responders out of $14 million is liable for nearly $5.4 million in connection with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission claims he faced related to the scheme, a federal judge in San Antonio, Texas, has determined.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday accused a Texas man of defrauding investors, many of them retired San Antonio police officers, out of $14 million in a purported aviation parts leasing scheme.
