Drug Cos. Must Face Bulk Of Weight Loss Drug Cancer Suit
An Oklahoma federal judge won't let EISAI Inc. and Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc. trim most claims from a suit alleging the weight loss drug Belviq caused a woman to develop breast cancer, saying the complaint sufficiently alleges they were aware of the drug's risks but pushed it to market anyway.

JPML Urged To Consolidate Weight-Loss Drug Cancer Suits
Consumers on Thursday urged the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to group lawsuits alleging that Eisai Inc. and Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s recalled diet drug Belviq causes cancer, saying that just because there are different types of cancers alleged doesn't mean the cases can't be consolidated.
