8th Circ. Says Hospital Must Arbitrate Union's Staffing Claim
The Eighth Circuit upheld a district court's decision ordering a Kansas-based medical center to arbitrate a grievance from a nurses union over the hospital's staffing policy, saying the dispute is not exempt from arbitration under the parties' collective bargaining agreement.

A Kansas City, Missouri, hospital cannot dodge a nurses' union's suit to force arbitration over claims the hospital assigned bargaining unit work to supervisors, a federal judge ruled, saying the union showed it's plausible the dispute belongs in arbitration under its labor contract.
