Just days before trial was set to begin over litigation costs related to the 2018 Miami pedestrian bridge collapse, Zurich American Insurance Co. and Gerdau Ameristeel US Inc. have agreed to end their coverage dispute, according to a filing in Florida federal court.

Gerdau Ameristeel urged a Florida federal judge Tuesday to rule that Zurich American Insurance Co. must cover its underlying litigation costs over the March 2018 collapse of a Miami pedestrian bridge, saying Zurich drafted an ambiguous policy provision "akin to Frankenstein's Monster."

A Florida federal judge on Tuesday refused to pare down a lawsuit by a subsidiary of steel company Gerdau against Zurich American Insurance Co. over its failure to pay for litigation costs related to the March 2018 collapse of a Miami pedestrian bridge, finding that its request for clarification of the policy is not duplicative.
