A Florida jury on Friday found that a Connecticut-based bike wheel maker didn't infringe two designs made by a rival, deciding the company did not have knowledge of an existing patent by the time it launched what was described at trial as a "better, faster" new product.

Bicycle components manufacturer SRAM Corp. on Monday accused Princeton Carbon Works Inc. of infringing its two bicycle wheel designs, alleging during opening statements before a Miami federal jury that its rival copied the company despite already knowing patents already existed.

Judge Won't Toss Invalidity Defense In Bike Wheel IP Case
A Florida federal judge has refused to hand bicycle parts maker SRAM LLC a win in its patent infringement suit, finding that a failed attempt to get the Patent Trial and Appeal Board to review SRAM's patents didn't extinguish its rival's invalidity arguments in court.
