Electronic voting system company Smartmatic has settled its defamation suit in Washington, D.C., federal court alleging One America News Network peddled conspiracy theories claiming the firm rigged voting machines during the 2020 presidential election, the company said in a statement Tuesday.

One America News Network urged a D.C. federal court to recuse the federal magistrate judge overseeing voting tech provider Smartmatic's defamation case against it. The network argues that her professional connections to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro when she was a BigLaw attorney are a conflict of interest due to its stance on that country's government and fraud surrounding elections there.
