A Canadian automotive parts supplier has said it deserves more than $1 million in attorney fees for batting back "baseless" defense claims that its patents for school bus parts were invalid only to see those claims dropped midway through a jury trial that the company prevailed in last month.

A Michigan jury has found that lighting manufacturer Opti-Luxx willfully infringed a Canadian competitor's two patents covering illuminated school bus signs and owes about $23,000.
