    Apple And Ericsson Cut Deal To End EDTX, ITC Fights

    An Eastern District of Texas jury won't decide whether Ericsson's licensing of cellular patents considered essential to 4G and 5G standards are being sold to Apple at fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory rates, as both companies said Friday they had reached a deal to end multiple suits and simultaneous investigations at the U.S. International Trade Commission.

    Gilstrap Sets Dec. Trial In Apple-Ericsson FRAND Row

    U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap ruled that a jury trial will take place this December to determine whether Swedish telecom company Ericsson is fairly licensing standard-essential 5G technology to Apple Inc. and scuttled the iPhone maker's bid to push that issue to a more complex jury trial over the patents next year.

    The U.S. International Trade Commission agreed to review whether Apple and Ericsson's imports are infringing the other company's patents, just as Texas district court trials between them over 5G patent licensing negotiations were scheduled for the summer of 2023.

    Apple Sues Ericsson, Ramping Up FRAND Fight In Texas

    Apple has filed a new lawsuit in Texas federal court that claims its iPhones don't infringe a collection of Ericsson standard essential patents on 5G technology, going so far as to say the Swedish telecom is "holding up Apple for royalties."
