An Austria-based defense consultant, alleging that cable channel CNN destroyed his reputation by insinuating he preyed on desperate Afghans, dropped his federal defamation case for a state court lawsuit after a Florida federal court found that it couldn't hear the "stateless" man's suit.

A defense consultant filed a defamation suit against CNN on Thursday, claiming a report on Afghans trying to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power insinuated that he was exploiting desperate Afghans and has made him a pariah in the national security community.
