A Massachusetts federal judge endorsed a settlement notice brought by a national steakhouse chain and a group of workers to end their claims that the restaurant paid them subminimum wages by assigning them large amounts of nontipped tasks, according to a filing Wednesday.

National steakhouse chain Fleming's illegally paid subminimum wages to tipped servers and bartenders by assigning them excessive, untipped side work like chopping fruit, polishing glasses and oiling wood surfaces, according to a collective action filed Tuesday in Boston federal court.
