A chemical manufacturing company and a former employee reached a deal Wednesday to end her lawsuit alleging she was fired because of her age after 47 years on the job, coming on the heels of a Pennsylvania federal judge clearing her claims for trial.

A Pennsylvania federal judge refused to grant a chemical manufacturing company a win Friday in a former worker's lawsuit claiming she was illegally fired and replaced with someone 20 years younger than her, saying a jury could find that her age — not performance issues — cost her the job.
