An Illinois federal judge tossed a proposed class action alleging Walgreen Co. misled customers by claiming its branded 3% hydrogen peroxide solution is good for treating minor cuts, saying U.S. Food And Drug Administration language on similar products preempts the plaintiffs' allegation that Walgreens' claim is mere "folklore."

Walgreens Co. has been hit with a proposed class action alleging its branded 3% hydrogen peroxide solution misleads consumers by stating it is good "for treatment of minor cuts & abrasions" without offering credible scientific or medical evidence to support the use of the product for that purpose.
