A proposed class of data breach victims has asked a federal judge to issue final approval of a $1.5 million settlement with Connecticut-based gunmaker Sturm, Ruger & Co. and a New Jersey web developer, along with $500,000 in fees to attorneys with four firms including Siri & Glimstad LLP.

A federal magistrate judge in Connecticut on Thursday agreed to slide expert witness deadlines into January 2025 and class certification deadlines into March, April and May so that a proposed class of customers can pursue mediation with gunmaker Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. and a web developer in a data breach lawsuit.

A Connecticut federal judge trimmed a data breach lawsuit Wednesday against gunmaker Sturm Ruger & Co. Inc. but did not fully dismiss the case, agreeing that a proposed class of plaintiffs had standing to press a breach of contract claim against the company, but the judge tossed accusations of negligence and unjust enrichment.

Connecticut-based Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. and its website developer are asking a federal judge to jettison a putative class action surrounding a data breach on the gunmaker's e-commerce site ShopRuger.com between September 2020 and February 2022.
