A church accused its insurer of violating Pennsylvania's insurance bad faith law and breaching its insurance policy by failing to properly defend former members and trustees over the church's claims they diverted funds to start their own congregation, the church told a federal court.

A Pennsylvania federal judge ruled to retain jurisdiction over a coverage dispute between an insurer and a Presbyterian church, finding the lawsuit didn't conflict with the underlying state court proceeding seeking to recover funds allegedly diverted from the church to a number of its board members.
