An upstate New York pizzeria agreed to pay $25,000 to end a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission lawsuit alleging the business refused to step in while a transgender cook endured harassment that included being misgendered and being told he was "not a real man."

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued a bar and pizzeria in New York federal court Thursday, saying a transgender cook faced gender identity-related harassment that included questions about genitalia and the suggestion that he "wasn't a real man."
