An Indiana hospital agreed to pay $158,000 to resolve a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission suit alleging it unlawfully fired a nurse rather than transferring her to a different position to accommodate her after an on-the-job fall.

An Indiana hospital refused to allow a nurse to take on a new role and eventually fired her after she suffered arm and shoulder injuries from a fall at work, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
