Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti said the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is overstepping its power by asking clinics that want Title X funding to refer patients for abortions that are illegal in the state, according to a motion filed in Tennessee federal court.

Tennessee sued the Biden administration on Tuesday over its decision to rescind the state's Title X funding for family planning services, saying the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services unlawfully requires the state to make abortion referrals as a condition of receiving the money.
