HBO, Horse Race Announcer Settle TM Suit Over Catchphrase
A New York federal judge Monday dismissed, for now, a famed sportscaster's trademark suit against HBO and Warner Bros. over their use of a similar version of his signature catchphrase in a 2023 episode of "Perry Mason," after receiving word last week that the parties had reached a settlement-in-principle.

HBO Copied Catchphrase In 'Perry Mason,' Sportscaster Says
A New York sportscaster known for calling horse races claims HBO and its parent company, Warner Bros., intentionally used a very similar version of his trademarked catchphrase "And down the stretch they come" in an episode of "Perry Mason," according to an infringement lawsuit filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court.
