A Massachusetts scrap tire facility agreed to pay $250,000 to settle a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission lawsuit claiming the company's owner used derogatory language toward Guatemalan workers and threatened them with deportation, according to a Thursday filing in federal court.

Mass. Tire Co. Owner Harassed Hispanic Workers, EEOC Says
The owner of a scrap tire facility told Hispanic workers to go back to their countries and frequently donned an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hat while handing out paychecks to intimidate employees, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Massachusetts.
