A Texas federal judge kept intact a suit brought by W&T Energy VI LLC claiming Anadarko Petroleum Corp. improperly operated equipment on an offshore oil and gas well and then lied about the damages, saying Wednesday that W&T adequately alleged its claims.

Oil and gas producer W&T Energy VI LLC told a Texas federal judge that Anardako Petroleum Corp.'s bid to escape claims over damages to a jointly operated offshore well suggests it thinks it can breach their agreement and "commit fraud with impunity."

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has urged a Texas court to reject its partner's bid to arbitrate a dispute over an oil well on the outer continental shelf, alleging a since-abandoned lawsuit by the partner company forecloses any arbitration rights it may have had.
