Deals Rumor Mill: GO Scale Capital, Toshiba, Chevron

By Benjamin Horney (February 29, 2016, 4:45 PM EST) -- China-based private equity firm GO Scale Capital plans to make another push for a Koninklijke Philips NV-owned lighting business, Bloomberg reported Monday, but not the LED lights business that GO Scale tried and failed to buy earlier this year. According to the report, GO Scale is now seeking to buy the company's other lighting division, which makes products including street lights and could be "less politically sensitive" than the Lumileds business. The current lighting unit could be worth as much as $5.4 billion, the report noted, and other prospective suitors include Melrose Industries PLC, Blackstone Group LP, Onex Corp. and Apollo Global Management....
